With a maniac in the White House hell-bent on nuclear destruction, there is no better time to plan my move. Shall it be a step from the 80s or a Chuck Berry duck walk? Either way, adequate footwear is a must for hot cinders, radioactive tap dancing or a cha cha cha.
Get me out of here! This is nuts.
It’s the other realm of space. You know what I mean…
What a great word! Gnarl perfectly describes the tree I stared at yesterday, while drinking a Coke and sketching. The gnarl has to have been years in the making, possibly without meddlesome pruning by “management”.
The time spent observing, was the perfect ending to a perfect day of food, weather and friends.
I debated leaving the drawing colorless, allowing the viewer to fill in the blanks. Possibly I should have.
Tra voi tra voi saprò dividere
il tempo mio giocondo;
Tutto è follia nel mondo
Ciò che non è piacer.
Godiam, fugace e rapido
e’il gaudio dell’amore,
e’un fior che nasce e muore,
ne più si può goder.
Godiam c’invita un fervido
Violetta (as she sings to an impossible task)
Challenged by a friend to draw the inside of a cabinet, I reluctantly opened several for “that cool perspective”. However, none really made me happy, until I started cooking dinner.
Inside the cupboard was a masterpiece, several hanging precariously unbalanced. This was the last place I wanted to look and the first, worthy of sketching.
I used to have neighbors who banged their pots and pots on New Year’s Eve. Mmmmm, I think I’ll draw.
First day of winter break and I’m relaxed. It’s raining with a steady beat and my sketching is humming along.
During the week, I bought a drawing table for the first time. The kitchen has been “creative central”, but there are too many distractions and accidents in wait.
What a perfect day to try new colors from my friend Kathy, and see what they can do.
Pencil wash sans ink. Yup, no fine lines, only pencil and a bit of Prismacolor, plus Dr. Ph. Martin watercolors.
Forever morning in a café, drinking, celebrating little peeks outside a window. I am side-by-side with a cute little number as the lines grow strong; they formulate in mind.
Perfect Fall; brown, red, scents up an espresso machine. Geese in a nearby cemetery, spooning each other for show.
Friends warming. Friends talking cha-cha.
… came the form, came the thrill, came the life.
