Inner Workings B

This is what the inner workings of an instructional manual looks like to me. Every one of them. One might as well blur it as well, because I can’t see the directions, fathom A. to B., and certainly can’t insert figure 1 into 5.

I am a “man-thing failure” and am okay with that.

      1. I think most people who said what you just said would be being sarcastic. But I don’t think you’re being sarcastic. In any case, I can assure you that I intended no offense.

  1. Quite the opposite my dear! I learned many years ago that the reason most men say “I don’t need those!” to the instructions is because they cannot make heads or tails of them. So, your man-thing: Accomplished! Now, find a woman to translate for you.

  2. What i have always found distasteful about instruction manuals is the overwhelming amount of over simplicity, to the point of perceiving a level of vast complexity. Some one had to speak on their sores of these things sooner or later; I’m just glad you wee able to capture it in a painting.

  3. My wife, a retired art teacher, puts the stuff together, seldom looks at instructions. She may ask me, the retired English teacher, to check them out, and then explain how they have been translated into English from an obscure dialect of Hungarian by way of Swahili and Inuktitut. What she actually does is spreads the parts on the floor and then somehow sees it all spatially and starts assembling . 😀

Great composition Barry – pretty well describes/depicts my perception of assembly manual instructions. 🙂
