Today I shared lunch,
a circle of coffee…
both share le noir,
poison secrets,
a tool for conversation,
she is hot additive,
savage colosseum,
the scent; spirit fume.
both are simmered, and full-bodied.

I very much love how the components of the cafe seem to blend into each other. The poem reminds me of one of my favorite Rufus Wainwright songs, “The One You Love.”

Thank you very much and for the comparison. I am embarrassed so say that I had never heard of Rufus until 3 years ago. I was watching a Leonard Cohen musicians tribute from Canada, where he was featured several times. His voice is liquid pearl.

It is quite alright. I have never heard of a lot of good musicians until probably the last two months. It is what happens when you make a transition to a place where headphones are forbidden.

I’ve been there. It’s a place where conversation manages on its own and lips move in time with the beat.
